I finally got my hands on the Keurig® 2.0 K500 brewing system. If you haven’t had the chance to see their recent commercials, this new brewing system features the standard single cup brewing option but also a 3-5 cup carafe that gives you the same convenience. There are some interesting features on the Keurig 2.0 including a hot water brewer, a strong coffee/tea setting and a customizable colour choice (so it matches with the rest of the kitchen, of course).
Let’s talk about the coffee taste. I followed the instructions when I received the Keurig and ran water through the system a few times before putting in a K-Cup pack. When I was ready for a coffee, I placed the K-Cup pack into the brewer and make a fresh cup. To my surprise, it had a different taste than I expected. I was slightly confused as to why it had a slight bitter taste so I decided to run the water through again. Unfortunately, this still did not solve the problem. If you are having this problem, I have a strong recommendation – the Keurig Descaling Solution.
The Keurig Descaling Solution is a great option if you are having an issue similar to mine. Any drink I made tasted slightly bitter and I used both water from the filter and tap. According to Keurig.com, “Descaling is an important process that removes calcium deposits, or scale, that can build up inside a brewer over time. Calcium and scale is non-toxic but left unattended, it can hinder your brewer’s performance over time. Descaling should take place every 3 to 6 months to preserve the long-term health of your brewer.”
Once I followed the directions and ran the product through my Keurig, it was perfect! Anything I brewed after that was delicious. I will be using my Keurig from now on for my morning coffee. The coffee that is brewed allows for a pleasing aroma and a smooth taste that is similar to coffee you would find at a coffee shop.
If you need to pick up a last-minute gift for that special someone, definitely pick up a Keurig 2.0
